I took up photography as a hobby a few years ago – I had previously dabbled in it in my teens some twenty plus years earlier, when film was king. Back then, once you pressed the shutter-release, the resulting photo was pretty much the final article. Digital photography has changed all that. It‘s very liberating to be able to tweak the images later on.
Most of my photos are of architecture, or perhaps architectural abstracts. I find it rather fascinating how seemingly unchanging buildings can yield countless different images. The ambiance changes from one season to the next, or the time of the day (or night for that matter). Naturally composition plays a vital role. Without any regard to it even the best subjects look forlorn - and with it even the categorically mundane comes to life.
