Skinning the White Whale on Flickr.
Via Flickr:
Work is already well underway on the massive remodelling of the former Eaton’s building at Georgia and Granville.
While spared the dynamiting that this life sucking behemoth most definitely deserves, the finished project will be a great improvement over the famous ‘toilet’ with all of it’s white cladding replaced with glass. Once completed, it will be home to a Nordstrom’s.
Introducing Fred on Flickr.
Via Flickr:
Nyana goes way back. The Emperor’s oldest friend, they even had a date on their first Christmas, the first time either of them had seen another kid.
Here she is, introducing her new baby brother Fred, just seven days old at this point. They’re already pretty tight.

Making it such a shame that we usually get so little sun during Autumn on the coast.
Also, I had forgotten what lovely stuff Fuji Reala is. Fortunately, it’s still available in 120. Straight scan with just a wee bit of sharpening.
Luddite Wars on Flickr.

Owing to the unfortunate rush hour incident at the corner of Georgia and Burrard involving the mules I hired to pull my darkroom, I must in this instance concede the match to Bill (nsfw) with his 6x9 Speed Graphic.
Touché Bill. I’ll be along to reclaim my title soon.
Belca Belfoca Test on Flickr.
Via Flickr:
I’ve had this Belca Belfoca folder rattling around in a box for well over 20 years. Not a camera with terribly much to recommend it, a three speed ‘Junior’ shutter topping out at 1/100th of a second, scale focussing, stamped metal construction. Heck, probably the best feature of this camera is the giggle-inducing ‘bonotar’ lens but, I figured what the heck and ran a couple rolls through it last weekend.
Well, it works. Results were much more drastically hurt by my myopic attempts to scale focus than from anything to do with the camera itself. It’ll go back to rattling around in a box for another 20 years and, if I can still get 120 film then, I may shoot another couple rolls with it.

Alex Cuba Gets Down on Flickr.
Via Flickr:
Alex Cuba, definitely the funkiest cat in Smithers, BC, gets (way) down while performing during Canada Day 2012 celebrations at Jack Poole Plaza last week.
Look at it big, this is a 1/2 frame crop from the Fuji. Very nearly unlimited resolving power with that wonderful 90mm Fujinon!
Life in the time of Septimius Severus on Flickr.
Via Flickr:
Stripped of most of it’s copper in 1997 the penny has been discontinued by Emperor Severus, er Prime Minister Harper and, it’s big brother’s the Loonie and Toonie have now been debased to but a shadow of their former selves as well, requiring the recalibration of every vending machine in the country.
This enterprising penny* isn’t taking things lying down, gathering up his brethren to mount an all out counter-attack against the indignities being inflicted on Canadian Coinage.
*Actually, he was gathering donations for three very worthy charities as part of the Penny Party. You might as well give them your pennies, darn things have hardly any copper in them anymore.
