Out of Concern for Mom on Flickr.

Explained the old saw ‘Step on a crack, break your mother’s back’ the other day. Walks in the park have gotten a bit more challenging for Trajan in light of this information. Lisa’s back continues to be without problem though so, absent any evidence to the contrary, it appears to be working.

In case your lust for overpriced pub food with pretensions to gourmet hasn’t already been satiated by the Cactus Club at Burrard and Dunsmuir (about 3 blocks away), Robson St (about 5 blocks away), English Bay (about 10 blocks away) or, any of the couple dozen other locations throughout the lower mainland, fear not. The gargantuan Cactus Club on the west side of Jack Poole Plaza at the Convention Center is opening soon.
Belca Belfoca Test on Flickr.
Via Flickr:
I’ve had this Belca Belfoca folder rattling around in a box for well over 20 years. Not a camera with terribly much to recommend it, a three speed ‘Junior’ shutter topping out at 1/100th of a second, scale focussing, stamped metal construction. Heck, probably the best feature of this camera is the giggle-inducing ‘bonotar’ lens but, I figured what the heck and ran a couple rolls through it last weekend.
Well, it works. Results were much more drastically hurt by my myopic attempts to scale focus than from anything to do with the camera itself. It’ll go back to rattling around in a box for another 20 years and, if I can still get 120 film then, I may shoot another couple rolls with it.

In Birch Bay, Washington. Great idea, there’s a bin to donate ‘new stock’ and a box to leave your four bits (50¢) per book.

Trajan was pretty excited to meet his first parrot on English Bay last night. Actually, I think it’s a Macaw but, still, beats the hell out of yet another pigeon or seagull!
A Place for Unspeakable Rituals on Flickr.

This altar in Coal Harbour Park is a place where strange and unspeakable rituals take place in the setting sun. Best to steer clear!
