Strathcona Labyrinth. Seen on a Vancouver 4/3’s group wander through Chinatown and Strathcona with Eric on June 30th, the last day of January 2012.
Sadly, a little rain scared everyone else off so it was just Eric and I but, (damp) fun was had nonetheless.

Had a lovely afternoon on Sunday wandering about through the underbelly of Vancouver with good friend Will and new arrival Arnaud, who was nice enough to let me play with his Zuiko OM 18mm f/3.5, a real gem of a lens.
Fun was had, silver halides were exposed for what they are and we ended up with a few pints on what may well have been the last summery Sunday of the year.

Strathcona Door, seen on an evening wander with Eric, Mike and Chun.
Not much photographically for me tonight, shot some film I’m anxious to see on a walk from Commercial Drive back Downtown to meet the guys which I should have souped over the weekend that should be more interesting.

This is a polaroid, er, fujiroid test shot but, as it will likely be some time before I can get the actual film souped and scanned, I thought I’d share this from today’s larger than life photo wander with Shane and Jeff. What a sight we must have been, schleping our 4x5’s around Granville Island! It was grand fun though and we’ll be doing it again soon, hopefully with more people.
As this is shot on pack film, the image is a little cropped, the intention was to have the whole ferry in the background and, that’ll hopefully be the case with the final shot. I’m starting to feel much more comfortable with the Linhof after running through a box of HP5+ and I’m quite happy with getting the movements very nearly correct on this shot, a bit of front drop as we were about 20 ft above the water line and everything is pretty darn near straight still.
If you’ve got a few screws loose and also find the prospect of schlepping around heavy view cameras on a Sunday morning, you should join our group. Not limited to large format, anyone who likes using somewhat weird stuff can come along and play.
I’ll try to organize another of these outings in a few weeks.
