A Splash of Colour on Flickr.Via Flickr:
After my series of sexually charged images from the Bob’s Lounge show on Saturday night, I thought I should lighten the mood up a bit.
So, I present, the sex organs of a juvenile flower of some type or another. Spotted this afternoon in the Rose Garden at Stanley Park.

Roza’s Rose on Flickr.Via Flickr:
One advantage of living in beautiful Coal Harbour is that, since we’ve moved here, every single wedding we’ve attended has been within a few blocks of our home.
Not only is that very convenient in terms of getting there and back but, it also means that we invariably end up having brunch with the happy couple the next morning where the perennial problem is ‘what the heck are we going to do with all these flowers!’. Being close by, we almost always end up with a bouquet or three which pleases Lisa and gives me something to point my camera at when I’m not busy editing their wedding photos!
(don’t worry guys, the photos are almost ready!)

Into the Jaws… on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Picked up a B+W +3 closeup lens for my 50-200 recently. It’s a bit strong, a +1 or +2 would be much more useful but, on a tripod, it can be fun.
Despite being a B+W, this is still a single element diopter so, despite being of higher quality glass and construction than most closeup lenses, it still adds in the abberations and distortions closeup filters are known for, which can be delightful under the right circumstances.

"There was once a word used---swing. Swing went in one direction, it was linear, and everything had to be played with an obvious pulse and that's very restrictive. But I use the term 'rotary perception.' If you get a mental picture of the beat existing within a circle, you're more free to improvise. People used to think the notes had to fall on the center of the beats in the bar at intervals like a metronome, with three or four men in the rhythm section accenting the same pulse. That's like parade music or dance music. But imagine a circle surrounding each beat-each guy can play his notes anywhere in that circle, and it gives him a feeling he has more space. The notes fall anywhere inside the circle, but the original feeling for the beat isn't changed. If one in the group loses confidence, somebody hits the beat again. The pulse is inside you. When you're playing with musicians who think this way you can do anything. Anybody can stop and let the others go on. It's called strolling…."
